Let’s talk about something that doesn’t show up on a profit and loss statement but impacts everything in business and life: confidence.
Not the strutting-around-like-you-know-everything kind. I’m talking about that quiet, grounded belief that says, “I’ve got this.” Even when things feel hard. Even when you’re winging it a bit (because, let’s be honest, most of us are sometimes).
Before anyone else believes in you; your team, your customers, your bank manager; you’ve got to believe in yourself. Otherwise, you’ll second-guess every decision and hold yourself back from doing the things that really matter.
I’ve seen it time and time again with my clients. When they start backing themselves; really trusting their gut, owning their strengths, and making decisions with a bit of fire in their belly; that’s when things shift.
You don’t need to be the loudest person in the room. You just need to stop being the person constantly getting in your own way.
Feeling scared doesn’t mean you’re not confident. It just means you’re doing something that matters.
Every business owner I’ve worked with has had moments of doubt, panic, or waking up at 3am thinking, What on earth am I doing? That’s normal.
But confidence is about doing the thing anyway. Having the hard conversation. Taking the leap. Asking for help. Saying no when it doesn’t serve you.
The more you do the scary stuff, the less scary it becomes. You start to prove to yourself that you can do hard things. And that builds more confidence. It’s a loop worth getting stuck in.
You don’t need a vision board or to chant affirmations in the mirror (unless you want to... no judgment here). But confidence does need looking after.
Here are a few things that actually work:
🟠 Set small, doable goals – Get some quick wins under your belt. Momentum is magic.
🟠 Learn from the hard stuff – Every stuff-up is a chance to learn. Don’t waste it.
🟠 Talk to yourself like you would a mate – Would you tell a friend they’re useless and failing? No? Don’t do it to yourself either.
🟠 Ask for feedback – Not to beat yourself up with, but to grow. The right feedback can be gold.
🟠 Celebrate the wins – Even the small ones. Especially the small ones.
You already have what it takes; it just might be buried under a pile of doubt, fear, and other people’s opinions. Start trusting yourself a little more. Back yourself. Say yes to opportunities even if you feel 80% ready.
Because if you’re waiting to feel 100% confident before you take action, you’ll be waiting forever.
And if you know you’re ready for change but aren’t sure where to start... I can help.
Whether it’s getting clarity, taking back control of your time, or making your business work better for you, confidence is the first step, action is the next.
