Sometimes it can feel like all you do is put out fires or react to the day-to-day challenges in your business, rather than focusing on strategy or improvement.

Or maybe your business is profitable, but deep down, you know it isn’t giving you what you want – a certain lifestyle or financial freedom you set out to achieve.

The good news is that it doesn’t have to be like that!

While identifying and improving systems and processes that enable profitable growth comes naturally to me, I know that isn’t always the case for others.

That’s why since 2016, I’ve been helping business owners like you become less stressed, free up more time, and generate enough profit to achieve the lifestyle you want (and deserve).

Hi, I'm Helen Laidlaw, Business Advisor

After studying business and accounting at the University of Waikato, I was admitted to the Chartered Accountants of Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ) as a CA member in 1996. Over the next 20 years, I worked as a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) within SMEs and public sector environments across multiple countries including New Zealand, Australia, and the United Kingdom.

I am a certified member of the Institute of Advisors, a body representing professional Business Advisors around the world, founded in 2009 with the aim of raising the standards in Business Advisory services.

In 2016, I joined BSP Advisory after seeing an opportunity to help more than one business owner at a time. A strategic relationship with BSP Advisory Ltd allows me to access a vast range of resources and a network of highly skilled professionals.

As a business advisor, I like to keep things simple. I say what I mean and do what I say. After all, business is about people and earning your trust is important to me.

What my clients often value the most from our partnership is having someone to help ease the burden; a sounding board and an outside perspective to challenge ideas and provide independent advice to help them grow.

When I’m not helping businesses improve and grow, I love traveling to new places, seeing new things, and experiencing different cultures. Originally from England, I also lived in Fiji before putting down roots in Hamilton where I live with my wonderful husband, Mike, and daughter, Gemma. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, the odd adventure race, walking, reading and a nice glass of prosecco on a summer evening.
